It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kay Jensen, who left this world peacefully on May 4, 2026, at the age of 74, after a courageous battle with cancer. Kay was born on May 14, 1951, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Loy and Mary (Thrailkill) Meyers. She lived her formative high school years in Mexico City, Mexico, which shaped her adventurous spirit and love for diverse cultures.

Kay's professional journey began in nursing at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to caring for others, a calling that brought her both joy and fulfillment. She found love with Wendell (aka Chuck/Chopper) Jensen, and together they embarked on a wonderful adventure as a family. They settled in Missoula, Montana, before returning to Rochester and eventually making their home in Chester, MN. Kay cherished her role as a mother, finding her greatest joy in raising her daughters.

She is survived by her daughters Jessica (Dennis) Myers of Rochester; Cathryn Saterdalen of Adams; and Jennifer Newton of Byron; grandchildren Matthew, Dillon (Tallie), Anela, Serena, Ciara, and Laci; great-grandchildren Zenobia, Jason, Will, and Levi. Kay is also survived by her sister, Terry Meek, of Des Moines, Iowa. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wendell Jensen, and her parents.

Kay dedicated an impressive 38 years to her work at Jerome Foods (Hormel), where she was known for her dedication and team spirit. In addition to her career, she embraced her role as a crossing guard in Anchorage, Alaska.  Beyond her professional achievements, Kay had a deep passion for the arts. She was a talented musician, sharing her gift through the piano, guitar, and her beautiful singing voice. One of the family's fondest memories includes her heartfelt renditions of "Heart of the Rising Sun" on the guitar and "Fur Elise" on the piano. Her artistic spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those she loved.

In honoring Kay Jensen, let us remember her warmth, love, and zest for life-the very qualities that made her a cherished mother, sister, and friend. A memorial service to celebrate Kay's life will be held at 5:00 PM on Monday, June 1, 2026, at the Byron Funeral Home, with Pastor Johnathan Pointdexter officiating. A visitation will take place one hour before the service, providing friends and family an opportunity to come together in remembrance.
