Keven Paul Newton passed away Friday, July 12, 2024, at his home. Keven was born on June 8th, 1949, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota to Clyde and Glenice Newton. Keven graduated from Faribault high school in 1967. Shortly after graduation he entered the Marine Corp where he served for 2 years with the India Company 37 in Vietnam. There he earned the nickname "Rat" as he always had extras of things in case you needed them. After leaving the Marine Corp he served in the Army reserve for 21 years.
He married Mary Engebretson on December 22, 1973. They had two sons Jeremy and Jonathan. Keven graduated from Winona State with a degree in Industrial Tech and a master's in education. He taught for the Rochester School district at Willow Creek Middle school and JM, Mayo and Century high schools. He also taught Community Education classes and his favorite was teaching adults with disabilities.
Keven is survived by his wife Mary, sons Jeremy (wife Olivia) of Byron, Minnesota and Jonathan (wife Melanie) of Mankato, Minnesota; grandchildren Kailey, Brielle, Anela, Ivy, Blayke, and Cayson; and one sister, Leanna Cordero of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Glenice, brother Brent, son James and grandson Luke Newton.
