Michele E. Barnes, 68, of Byron, Minnesota, formerly of Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at The Mayo Clinic, Methodist Hospital.

Michele was born March 9, 1958, in Detroit, Michigan, to Marvin and Jean (Kelly) Globke. She was one of six children and a graduate of Cody High School.

Michele devoted much of her life to raising her four children and caring for her family. She later worked as a cashier and also helped her sister at her sister's in home daycare. After moving to Minnesota in 2020, Michele most recently worked at Dollar General in Byron.

Michele was a woman who gave freely of herself and always seemed to put others before her own needs. She was honest, pure-hearted, patient, loving, and selfless. She found joy in crafting, following politics, and listening to various podcasts. Above all, Michele treasured her family and the time she spent with the people she loved.

She will be deeply missed by her four children, Jason (Crystal) Barnes, Shannon (JaStene) Lovelace, Megan (Rae) Thunderfoot, and Ryan (Daniel) Detloff; her twelve grandchildren, Erin, Alexis, Nathan, Brigid, Jordan, Maiya, Lizabeth, Jacen, Eagan, Dominick, Ayan, and JoSalyn, several great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Kathleen Spisz, Patricia Wittstock, George Globke, and Michael Globke. Michele was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Jean Globke, and her brother, Joe Globke.

Michele's family wishes to thank the cardiac unit at St. Marys Hospital for their amazing and compassionate care, that was not only shown toward Michele but to the entire family
