Ricky Lee Sweet, 57, of Byron, MN passed away from natural causes on Friday, April 22, 2022.

Rick was born on December 21, 1964, in Rochester, MN to Myron and Joy Sweet. He attended Hayfield High School and graduated from Mayo in 1983. He continued his education in welding at Anoka Technical College.

Rick pursued his career as a union carpenter, self-employed contractor and multiple rental property owner. On December 6, 2020, Rick and Kathy were united in marriage and lived in Byron, MN.

Rick was a wonderful and loving husband, son, brother, father and grandfather. He was a caring friend and co-worker to many. Rick loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, boating, traveling and spending time with his children and family at his cabin in Alma, Wisconsin. Rick's love for fishing allowed him to travel to Alaska with his wife and children, where he is a proud owner of property.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Brandon (Cassidy), Katie (Tom), Chris (Emily), and Jessup; mother, Joy Sweet; brother, Curt (Kathi) Sweet; grandchildren, Noelle and Alexis; nephews and nieces, Nic (Shannon) Sweet, Wyatt, Piper, and Haven. Savanah Sweet, Maverick and Presley; Kari (Nick) Marquardt, Violet, and Bonnie Kostel. All extended family and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Myron Sweet; brother, Bob Sweet and his beloved daughter, Carly Sweet.

The memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2022, in the Byron Funeral Home with Rev. Shelley Cunningham officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be in Elgin Cemetery in Elgin, MN after the service.
